Re: Aviones Historicos

Sound
Sound is progressing very well and is being done through FMOD; at present there are 40+ custom sounds with more being added each day. We have been lucky enough to find a high quality sound recording of a Mk IX being taken through a full engine run for the purposes of recording - the result is an extremely faithful recreation of the Merlin’s roar. Sound quality is being kept to a very high standard and for the spitfire we are using more advanced FMOD effects, including directional sound and processing (you will get the full roar of the merlin from in front of the aircraft), rain/wind and environmental sounds, unique sounds for different surfaces and more.

We will be sharing some videos soon to showcase the sound and other features, stay tuned!

2-Stage Supercharger
Development of the 2-Stage Supercharger used in the Mk IX is now mostly complete and we are extremely proud of the result.

The supercharger has been realistically simulated and carefully performance matched using real world data - all the real world features of the supercharger are available in our simulation, including modelling of the MS & FS stages, the ability to manual select between MS & Auto, the supercharger test system and custom failures.

Our simulation of the supercharger is code/plugin driven to operate in the same fashion as a real supercharger - it will dynamically adjust the engine horsepower, manifold limits, critical altitude and overall performance based on a multitude of factors. We have been able to very accurately model the engine performance with the 2 different stages thanks to the wealth of data and performance charts available online.

Fuel Systems (Wobble, Pump, Tanks, Gauge, Pressure , External Tank, Primer)
The entirety of the Mk IX’s fuel system has been recreated for this simulation, including:

-Realistic fuel tank weights, capacity, mass location
-Accurate fuel drain & consumption (top tank drains first)
-Custom fuel gauge system to recreate the Mk IX’s ‘push to power’ gauge system
-Realistic modelling of the Fuel Booster Pump system through a custom fuel pressure system. The booster pump is required to be operated correctly for startup and in-flight, and incorrect use will result in a multitude of aircraft issues
- The vintage wobble pump system has also been custom modeled and can be used in place of the booster pump (it must also be operated realistically or the engine will suffer from low fuel pressure issues)
- Custom Fuel Priming System, dynamically affected by weather and aircraft state
-External Tank System and relevant cockpit controls, as well as realistic operation and integration with the fuel pump systems (as an example, switching between External Tanks and the Main tanks with the booster pump OFF will cause a severe drop in fuel pressure and must be rectified by either the booster pump or the wobble pump)

Realistic Start-up
As all features of the Mk IX have been completely recreated in our simulation, following realistic start-up procedures and checklists is a must when flying the Mk IX.
You can expect difficulty starting the engine with incorrect procedures, and it will be impossible without doing certain things right (such as using the booster coil in conjunction with the starter). Failure to manage the fuel systems correctly will result in a weak start, a failed start, or even an engine flame out or exhaust flames (custom particles).

Custom Radiator Temperature Logic & Controls
X-plane 11 does not have a built in radiator coolant temperature system, so we have built our own temperature system from the ground up via coding. You can expect realistic temperature behavior and management, as well as resulting failures and reduced engine performance from poor temperature management.

Oxygen System
The Oxygen system of the Mk IX consists of 2 Oxygen bottles stored aft of the cockpit, which the pilot controls via a cutoff valve and regulator switch in the cockpit. Oxygen delivery is monitored via 2 gauges in the cockpit.
We have recreated this system by integrating the new 11.3 Oxygen features with some custom coding to create an accurate recreation of the Mk IX’s oxygen system.

Custom Particle System / Flames / Heat Blur & Dynamic Raindrop Effects
We are very excited about this one - we have started working with the new particle system available in 11.3 to create some truly breathtaking effects - expect high-quality exhaust flames when mismanaging the fuel system, engine smoke effects in response to certain failures or overheats, breathtaking engine heat blur effects, as well as animated and dynamic canopy rain droplets.
Previews to come soon!

Realistic Custom Wheel Brake & Parking Brake System
The Spitfire does not use a conventional differential toe-brake system; instead it has a lever on the spade (flight control stick) which controls the aircraft brakes - differential steering is achieved by using the wheel brakes in conjunction with the rudder pedals to divert hydraulic pressure between the left & right brakes.
We have recreated this system in full through a custom code plugin; including a custom parking brake system to recreate the simple ‘hook’ used in the Spitfire.

Custom Controls / Simpit Compatibility / All controls bindable
As a part of our commitment to our collaborators at Heritage Flight Simulations, all cockpit controls are being made as commands and not datarefs. This means all controls will be bindable to your HOTAS system, flight panels, Simpit, or any custom controllers you might have.

Weapons System
On release, the aircraft will have guns, bombs and an external fuel tank system. All of these will operate just like in the real spitfire.

VR Ready / VR UI Panel System
The aircraft is being designed from the start for VR - all controls work seamlessly with the touch controllers, and have been designed for maximum interaction.
As an example, you can use your hands to physically slide the canopy open and closed; you must physically pump the fuel primer with your hands, switches must be actually ‘flicked’ and not simply ‘clicked’ with the controller.
